It just struck me how sweet this entire scene really is. Look at the way Ziva looks at Tony even before he hands her the picture and then her smile when she sees that the picture he’s talking about, his favorite picture, is one of herself. She’s so deeply touched, she wasn’t expecting such a honest, spontaneous comment on his part. It just hit me that while we had all these sweet moments of Tony in season 10 showing Ziva how special she is to him, this particular scene shows that he’s always known how to make her feel special.
And then there’s the fact that the only picture he took with someone in it is that candid picture of her, not looking at him, focused on something else entirely. And it’s such a contrast with the last pictures he had taken of her, pictures of her in a bikini, pictures he hung up on his bedside wall on a ship for anyone to see…
I think what I meant to say is that while the bikini pictures could easily be all about physical attraction and maybe even lust, I think the Paris picture is all about love.
